Unless the rider is on a true balance with the motion of the horse, he could be giving the horse the signal for another moment, ahead or behind, the horse’s movement. Then he would throw the horse out of time, which means foot position. When a horse loses his foot position, he cannot work correctly. He would be boiling in one spot, but, ready to go.
