Dedication and consistency To your horse it’s more work on our part. When I started my journey with my horse, I worked and worked in the round pen. I was just doing the A+B=C we worked and worked drills lunging, move hind & fore quarters and the saddle flapping fenders and stirrups. Jumping up and down like I was going to get on. Flexing her side to side. Asking softly and rewarding the try on her part. I was learning ( though I didn’t know it at the time) how to teach my horse!! How she’ll learn. Not force to do a maneuver but, give her the signal and her responding with the correct response. After James said once you get the correct response from the horse and you see the improvement of just 1% stop love on em rub em like their momma would unsaddle em put them back. Not grinding for hour with the same thing. Let them sit and S.O.A.K. Master class folks know this. It basic meaning it just let ‘em alone to…well absorb what went on. It really is amazing how great it works. My time actually teach and seeing that summer knew what she was taught when from hours of grinding to 24 minutes. 12 minutes to review the old 12 minutes to teach the new. We were/are working on the spin. Which for me is proving to be more complicated than I thought. We are making progress. Broken into steps. Neck reigning then use of leg and reigns now I’m at use of leg to move the front quarter with support of the reigns. We aren’t there yet because the training is learning. I’m very okay with it. It’s part of the journey which I’ve come to enjoy more than the destination. Go enjoy your horse today!!!
